Celebration of Poetry: Readings and Discussion on Writing Poetry

Michelle Paulsen and Scott Wiggerman - Thursday, April 21
Michelle Paulsen, Assistant Professor of English at The Victoria College, has written several books of poetry, including Labor and Delivery and Dirt, nominated for the Pushcart Award in 2002. Scott Wiggerman, the author of Vegetables and Other Relationships, is the 2003 winner of the D.H. Lawrence Scholarship in Poetry sponsored by the Taos Summer Writers Conference. He has published in numerous journals, most recently this year in modern words, Pebble Lake Review, Homestead Review, Windhover, and New Texas; and the 2004 anthologies This New Breed: Gents, Barbarians, and Bad Boys 2 and di-verse-city.

The Writers' League of Texas celebrates the written word on Thursday, May 19, at the UT Austin Club in the Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium. Featured authors include: Elizabeth Moon, Ben Rehder, Jo Virgil, Frederick Williams, Ric Williams, and a promising young author from "Voices in Ink." 2005 Literary Merit Award

Acclaimed author Ann Patchett, author of The Patron Saint of Liars, Taft, The Magician's Assistant, Bel Canto, and Truth & Beauty, will be the 2005 recipient of the Writers' League of Texas Award of Literary Merit.
